Helen

Through the support of the employability service, Helen improved her mental health, grew in confidence, she had additional income, which allows her to provide for children that she couldn’t do before and employer is providing additional training and has provided lots of praise on her skills and abilities within the role. Helen says I have more confidence, I feel better about myself, I’m learning new skills and I can now provide for my children. Speak to an adviser and you to can be Better Off.

Sarah

In August 2021, Sarah registered with Invest’s Employability Service, and through one-to-one appointments with her advisor Liz, it was identified that Sarah would benefit from some counselling through the Youth Services to help her with her anxiety and confidence building as Sarah found busy environments stressful and upsetting.

Sarah said “the advice and support I got seemed tailored just for me. My adviser was so helpful and very supportive and caring. I felt she really went the extra mile to understand my situation and arranged counselling for me to help me move forward. This really made me feel cared about and supported and helped me to be where I am today.” I would encourage anyone to get involved and get like me be Better Off.

Suzanne

Suzanne joined Invest, having not worked for over 20 years, her time had been spent caring for others including her daughter and her father. Initially, Suzanne lacked confidence and was unsure of which direction to take but was extremely open to working in retail and, potentially care, but felt she lacked the skills, experience and qualifications to make the step. 

she also received the support of Invest’s Income Advisor by getting a better off calculation completed prior to her starting work.  This allowed her to understand the transition of coming off benefit and how much better off she would be financially.

Being in work now, I feel more fulfilled . When I wasn’t  working I felt I wasn’t getting anywhere but that has changed . I have more money to spend and can now think about moving out of my parents’ home.
